Linda Tripp - She just had to get involved!
The Petraeus Affair is becoming clear to me now ...
Flashback: 1998
Linda Tripp, a bureaucratic nobody working in the Pentagon decides to insert herself into affairs w-a-a-a-a-y above her pay grade and provides information ... and critically, a semen stained blue dress ... to prosecuters hired by the Republicans to do anything, anything at all, to bring down a popular Democratic president. (Remember, the leader of the Republicans at the time, Gingrich, was guilty of his own adulterous behavior at exactly the same time.) Millions of dollars, thousands upon thousands of hours of wasted time, and untold grief follow until Clinton is re-elected as President.
Back to the Present
Until today, I could not understand why any of this was happening. Who was this "Kelley" woman and why was she even involved? I could understand that Petraeus couldn't keep it in his pants. That story is older than the Bible.
None of it is really excusable. Petraeus did the right thing when it started to come out. He manned up and took it on the chin. But the pieces just didn't fit right. People were doing things that didn't make sense. But now it does. We'll see, in the fullness of time, if I'm right. Since there's nothing that gets people more excited than a juicy sex scandal, it's all gonna come out! OH, Yeah!!!
Petraeus' lover Paula Broadwell is the key. She's the "Linda Tripp" of the affair who has decided that she needed to insert herself into something w-a-a-a-a-a-y above her pay grade simply because she couldn't stand to be ignored. She's the wild card. Other than thinking they could get away with illicit sex once they were famous, the others in the case are just acting ... well ... like humans have always acted.
General Allen and Jill Kelley were just playing the game. So was Petraeus. But Broadwell had to be in control - just like Linda Trip over a decade ago. So, thinking that she could control the genie, she rubbed the lamp and started sending emails to Kelly to get rid of her. Kelly didn't know what was happening, but she knew that she shouldn't have to take it, so she went to the FBI. The FBI might be the only straight player in the game so far. They just did what they're paid to do and now it's all coming out.
