Political advisors are sold on the personal sob story today. Both Romney and Obama used it over and over again in the first debate. But they don't tell the whole story. A more complete version of what they should be saying goes something like this:
I grieve day and night for the most tragic plight
of Mrs. Oyster Rabbitz!
Knocked up at sixteen, now a welfare queen,
she has many nasty habits.
She has fourteen kids, her life hit the skids,
and she's now a barrel of flab.
The kids not in jail are just out on bail
and half of them run a meth lab.
Some say assistance would solve her resistance
to improving her own life a bit.
Others say bull! If Rabbitz won't pull
her own weight, she should drown in shit.
I truly can't say what is the right way,
but can we simply agree?
The mess was created, and her life was fated,
when she really was free.

I showed this to my wife before posting it. She hit the ceiling and said, "The thing that is wrong with that is that it doesn't say a thing about the man. Where are all the men who are part of this? Those men oughta be sterilized!!"
She has a point.
