The Protectors of our "Freedoms" Show Their True Colors

That color is "green" - the color of money!

Stop and think for a moment about just what it is that makes the Internet the most world changing thing that has happened in our generation. It's the freedom, right? From whereever you are, you can access information, your email, your personal page, what they're saying in Cairo, videos from Syria ... Dictators can't shut it down. Corporations find that the truth sneaks past their PR departments.

More than anything else, the Internet sticks it to the Man!

The Man is striking back and his weapons are SOPA and PIPA. This pending legislation will cripple the freedom that people have now to go around the controls of power brokers.

My question is, "Where are the traditional protectors of our "freedoms" ??? This bill is sponsored by the right wing conservatives who claim they only want to prevent regulation and big government. And here they are making more regulations and bigger government.

It's no wonder that Rupert Murdoch, billionaire owner of NewsCorp, is one of the most vocal advocates of this freedom robbing legislation.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, January 18) should be an interesting day. Many of the top sites on the web - Wikipedia, reddit, Mozilla, and Failblog, are going black to protest SOPA and PIPA. Others, like Google, will post protests on their pages.
